Captain Jacks Tattoo and Body Piercing Studio Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of sterilization does the studio have?
We are a fully compliant with the health codes set by the State of Oregon Health Licensing Division.
We use single use needles, never to be reused after opening the packaging, (even if we don't actually use the needle it is discarded after the tattoo procedure). We use a steam autoclave sterilization and have our autoclaved spore test quarterly by an independent third party as required by Oregon Law. Test results posted and kept on file at all times. We also clean and disinfect the tattoo stations with a high-level disinfectant. If you have any inquiries about the safety and sterilization method feel free to discuss this with one of the artist of the studio.

To give an accurate estimate we need to meet with the client
Our apologies but we DO NOT give prices via phone or email
Do you make appointments?
We most commonly tattoo by appointments. The requirements to set an appointment are a 20.00 deposit. This deposit will be applied to the tattoo cost upon your arrival of your scheduled time. However, we also accept walk-ins, but walk-ins are taken on first come first serve basis.
Can we make an appointment for a Consultation?
We do make time to have consultations, this does not require anything on your behalf except either make a designated time to discuss your tattoo, or possibly having to have a brief wait while one of the artist becomes free to hear your ideas. When it comes to larger projects i.e. full body, back pieces, sleeves etc. a consultation is required to better understand your ideas and to better accommodate bringing what you want your tattoo to life. We do require a $20.00 drawing deposit to begin work on designing a custom piece. This will go towards your tattoo in the end product.
If I reschedule my appointment will I lose my deposit?
We do require at least an hour's notification before your appointment. If you reschedule within this parameter the deposit will not be lost and we will reschedule you at the most convenient opening that suits your schedule. However no call and no Shows will lose their deposits.
Can you accommodate groups of people for tattoos?
Yes we can accommodate large number of peoples all wanting to experience the tattoo experience. It would be within best interest to make an appointment for large groups of people 1 week prior to the desired time. This will allow the artist to make sure they have the time to accommodate all members, and make sure we can suit every ones needs when it comes to the artwork.
Are Children Welcomed inside?
Yes, children or minors are welcome to come inside the studio, but they must remain with in the lobby/reception area only. Children may not accompany anyone inside of the operatory. There must be an adult to accompany the child or children at all times while they remain within the studio. In other words there must be an alternate adult to accompany the child while you are receiving your tattoo.
What is your touch up policy?
We at captain jacks tattoo studio take pride in our work. We give free touch ups for life on our work, excluding the hands, feet, and neck regions. Additional charges may be required when reworking those areas due to the nature of the tissue within those regions.

For larger pieces we charge $100 per hour.
Does getting a tattoo hurt?
This is one of the most commonly asked questions. Some would say yes, some would say no. It is all-apart of your experience. Your pain tolerance and threshold greatly differ from friends, family, and all the other people out there. Yes the tattoo might hurt, but our artists are patient and will work with you to the best of your ability, Some get full pieces in one sitting, some have to separate the various stages of the tattooing process to multiple sittings. Which ever way you are we will accommodate you for your experience.
Do you have designs/flash art to choose from?
Yes we have a wide variety of designs and books for you to browse through to get a better idea of what you want your tattoo to be. We can also design a custom piece to your liking if you want as well. We recommend if you have a specific picture in mind that you saw in a book or online, bring in those references so we can have a better understanding what you are wanting your tattoo to grow into. Some designs must be altered to be a more tattoo friendly design. Small details and tight spaces may have to be altered to allow the tattoo to age properly as well.
